Get in touch

Allen Crombie currently holds the record for the longest career at Ruddocks, having joined us as a 16-year-old apprentice back in 1978!

For almost 5 decades, Allen has literally grown with us, playing an essential role in our business as it continued to evolve to meet our clients’ requirements.

He also experienced impressive changes in printing technologies and innovation. From the single colour letter press machines of the 1970s (which could take a day to get ready!) through to the 5 colour & coating Litho press we use today, which can achieve speeds of 15,000 impressions an hour; printing and Ruddocks are most definitely in his blood!

The Litho press never stops, and neither does Allen. As our Litho Print Manager, he specialises in creating efficiencies on the press, ensuring exceptionally high-quality print for our clients’ projects, maximum capacity and less impact on the environment.

On a personal note, Allen is actually something of a minor celebrity at Ruddocks, having played for the Lincoln City Football Club as well as managed Lincoln United, taking them to the first round of the FA Cup in 1991. He is also particularly proud of playing in a match with Martin Peters, the 1966 World Cup Winner!
