Bringing history and adventure to life
The Syd Kesseler Centre

Designing for adventure.
Our partnership with The Scout Association goes all the way back to 2010. One of the collaborations that perfectly showcases the wide range of our creative solutions is the opening of the Syd Kesseler Centre in 2025.
This journey started with a series of consulting sessions, where we worked closely with their team to envision a brand new centre at the international home of scouting, Gilwell Park in London. From initial concepts to final installation, we brought the centre to life using bespoke creative production and custom illustrations that capture the spirit of adventure and show the inspiring history of the Scouts.

A landmark project for The Scout Association.
Inside, we also worked on the curation of The Hirsch Family Adventure Gallery, an immersive space where visitors can journey through the Scouts’ rich heritage.

Promoting inclusivity & diversity with BSL illustrations.
As part of the Syd Kesseler Centre project, our creative team was also tasked to illustrate 20 individual characters showcasing young people signing in British Sign Language (BSL).
These vibrant illustrations are dotted around the exhibitions, teaching visitors simple signs relevant to scouting.
While creating these completely bespoke styles, we had a clear goal in mind: to educate visitors while highlighting the wide range of international scouts.
This directly ties into The Scout Association’s values of inclusivity, portraying the beautiful diversity of the scouts, so that everyone within the movement feels represented.

Thank you for all your support with the opening of the Syd Kesseler Centre, it looks simply stunning. Huge well done to the whole Ruddocks team for all you did!
