Gilwell signage

Transforming the International Home of Scouting

Breathing new life
into Gilwell Park.

Since 2010, we have been working with The Scout Association as their trusted creative production partner, supporting their purpose to improve young people’s lives, ‘helping them realise their full potential and take their place in society’.

In 2022, we had the privilege to be involved in a series of standout projects for the International Home of Scouting in Gilwell, London.

These projects involve creating bespoke illustrations, designing, producing and installing canvases and large-format boards for indoor exhibitions, as well as exterior signs for outdoor heritage trails.

Gilwell signage:
vibrant & functional.

Being equipped with the creative production facilities in-house, our team was tasked with completely transforming large areas of The Scout Association headquarters and principal campsite over the years.

We developed engaging and functional large-format signs, starting from the Gilwell Park entrance, surrounding the outdoor areas, and all the way through to the visitor buildings.

For example, our expert team designed, produced and installed a wide range of health & safety signage, displaying fire exits, eco-friendly tips, and wayfinding boards.

The outdoor signs we provided also included anti-graffiti finishes and reflective lettering, so they can last a very long time and be easily seen in different weather conditions, ensuring visibility without the need for electricity.

It’s always such a pleasure working with the Ruddocks team. Your quality and service are second to none. Thanks for all you do for Scouts.

Reimagined spaces elevating the visitor experience.

As for the interior, our team played an essential part in helping redecorate multiple activity rooms, from canteens and receptions, to entire visitor centres and shops.

A significant part of the Gilwell signage series of projects was providing bespoke creative illustrations and vibrant designs, as well as interactive elements such as reusable and customisable magnetic boards.

In addition, the main office was repurposed to accommodate a new and exciting area for flexible work, meant to increase collaboration.

And this transformative work is still ongoing, as Ruddocks’ collaboration with The Scout Association has been expanding over the years to include more exciting projects.

Through our creative work, we will continue enhancing the experience of all visitors and Scouts at Gilwell Park.

A personal connection.

Our Client Development Manager, Matt, is honoured to oversee these projects from start to finish, and he reflected on both his personal and professional experiences with the organisation:

“I’m proud to have been part of the 17th Epping Forest South Club Park (the original Scouts camp at Gilwell).

I even saved the jersey I used to wear as a memory of being through the movement, so it’s particularly gratifying to see great projects like these come to life. Although I might need a bigger sweatshirt now!”

The Scout Association gave me so much in my youth, so I’m really proud to support their mission through my work.
