Embarking on the road to Net Zero

Sustainability focuses on protecting the environment, combatting climate change, and minimising our ecological footprint, and has been a core focus for our business philosophy since 2008. Ever since, we’ve been working hard to research and implement the best solutions to reduce our Carbon Dioxide Equivalent (CO2e) emissions.

We recognise the importance of taking responsibility for our products throughout their lifecycle. Collaborating with our sustainable business consultant, we meticulously calculated our carbon footprint. This comprehensive assessment allowed us to optimise our energy consumption, manage waste, and address both our direct and indirect emissions.

Investing in Renewable Energy Initiatives

Implementing the recommended measures resulted in a significant reduction in emissions. However, acknowledging that approximately 70t CO2e still persisted last year after reducing as much as possible at that moment in time, we explored Carbon Offsetting Schemes. As a result, after careful evaluation, we partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain™, a UK initiative that helps individuals and businesses make an impact through carbon offsetting.

We chose to direct our efforts towards their Climate Fund™. This initiative supports global projects, such as wind, solar, hydro, and cook stove initiatives, while also contributing to education, employment, clean water, and positive impacts on local communities and ecology. Examples of the most recently supported projects include implementing energy efficient lighting in India, hydro power projects in the Andes Mountain, the Salkhit Wind Farm and the Nhkata Bay Cook Stove Project in Malawi.

Certified to the highest standards, all the carbon offsetting projects we support are regulated through Verra - Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Gold Standard - Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER) and the United Nations - Certified Emission Reductions (CER) programmes. These certifications ensure the accuracy and verification of the offset measurements and CO2e tonnage.

Planning for a sustainable tomorrow

Although carbon offsetting plays an important role, we acknowledge that it’s not a complete solution. Therefore, we're actively exploring renewable energy options, considering the installation of solar panels on our premises. And because our commitment extends beyond offsetting emissions, we're committed to investigating and implementing green solutions across our business, and advocating for others to join our mission to protect our world.
